Conditions are shaping up to make it possible to survey Half Moon Bay this weekend! We’ve opened sign-ups, so if you’re a Reef Check Diver in California, join us to gather data at this little-visited area.
These are unique survey sites with relatively rare weather windows, which allow us to complete this work. It’s always rewarding to get out there and get the job done.

A total of 9,209 crown-of-thorns starfish have been removed from the waters off Semporna and Kunak so far this year thanks to community involvement. Although it was mostly a local effort within Malaysia, one volunteer joined from China, proving that caring for the ocean isn’t restricted by borders.
Because crown-of-thorns starfish devastate coral, these eradication efforts will protect the reefs, marine biodiversity, fisheries, and the region’s tourism industry.
Follow @reefcheckmalaysia for updates and ongoing conservation efforts.
