Calling all underwater photographers!
We’re gearing up for the 2025 dive season and looking for volunteer photographers to help capture our efforts and the beauty of the US west coast pacific coast.
Your photos will help us tell the story of kelp forest conservation—supporting our outreach, training, and science communication efforts.
Here’s what to know:
📊 This is a volunteer role, secondary to data collection
📸 You’ll capture images during surveys (surface + underwater)
🧑💻 Requires some photo uploads and occasional social sharing
🤿 Open to all Reef Check survey divers

Join us on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 for our first monthly Sea Urchin Removal Event of the season at Caspar Cove on the beautiful Mendocino Coast!
Why? Purple sea urchins have overrun the reef, devastating local kelp forests. With your help, we can restore balance and give kelp—and the entire marine ecosystem—a fighting chance.
Here’s what to expect:
Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
Time: 8 AM to dusk
Location: Caspar Cove, Mendocino, CA
Bring: Dive or snorkel gear + a valid CA fishing license
Bonus: On-site air compressor available for tanks!
By volunteering, you’ll help restore kelp forests and connect with a passionate community of scuba divers.
These events happen every last Saturday of the month through September, so mark your calendars and make an impact!
