Congrats to Tess, who won the @biosphereexpeditions competition and got Reef Check trained in the Maldives!
Here’s what she had to say about the experience: “Words cannot express my gratitude for being given the opportunity to come on this expedition. It exceeded expectations and has taught me so much. After this remarkable week, I’ve decided to pursue higher education in marine biology. There is no doubt that this is my passion. Thank you so much to Biosphere Expeditions and to Reef Check for this experience of a lifetime and the push I needed to follow my true passion.”
Welcome to the family. We can’t wait to see what you do in the future.

The latest reports on reefs reaching a global tipping point are difficult to hear. Across the planet, reefs are bleaching faster and recovering more slowly than ever before. But this isn’t the end of the story.
At Reef Check, we believe hope is something you create through action. For more than 20 years, our mission has been to empower local communities to document, protect, and restore ocean ecosystems.
Our volunteer divers collect the data that helps scientists and decision-makers understand what’s really happening beneath the surface.
Coral reefs have shown time and again that when given the right conditions, they can recover.
We’re not losing hope.
Join us by boycotting all non-essential purchases, donating to ocean conservation, and volunteering in your local community.
