Restore America’s Estuaries 2026 Coastal & Estuarine Summit

Together, we’ll explore practical solutions, bold ideas, and lessons learned at the intersection of climate resilience, restoration, equity, and the blue economy – set against the backdrop of one of the nation’s most iconic coastal regions.

AAUS Diving For Science Symposium
La Jolla, CA – October 5-10

AAUS will celebrate the rich history and bright future of scientific diving at the 2026 AAUS Symposium. This meeting will be hosted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego and will mark 75 years of scientific diving.

North Coast KelpFest!
Mendocino/Fort Bragg, CA – October 8-12

North Coast Kelpfest! is a cultural response to an ecological crisis. Rather than approaching kelp forest decline solely as an environmental issue, we bring together food, art, science, education, and community to reconnect people with California’s coastal ecosystems. Through shared meals, field experiences, lectures, performances, and workshops, the festival highlights both the extraordinary biodiversity of our shoreline and the urgent challenges facing our kelp forests.

Kelp Day
Ensenada, Mexico – October 17

The kelp forests of Baja California will take center stage at the Festival del Kelp 2026, a community-driven celebration taking place at Caracol Museo de Ciencias in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Kelp Day is an initiative created to bring greater visibility to the remarkable underwater forests along the Pacific coast of Baja California. Now celebrating its third year, the event is evolving into a vibrant gathering where science, conservation, art, culture, gastronomy, and local communities come together to celebrate and connect with these extraordinary ecosystems.

California Seaweed Festival
Monterey, CA – October 24

The California Seaweed Festival is a free, family-friendly event celebrating the seaweed diversity of California! The festival showcases seaweed ecology as well as applications in art, cooking, farming, science, sustainable technology, and conservation. The festival moves to a different coastal location each year, so every festival is unique, and carefully crafted to showcase how seaweed and ocean ecology intersect and support the coastal communities.

Western Society of Naturalists Annual Meeting
Sacramento, CA – November 12-15

The Western Society of Naturalists is a scientific society with a strong focus on ecology, evolution, natural history, and marine biology. The 107th Annual Meeting will be in Sacramento.
