Win a dive trip to the Maldives!

Reef Check is teaming up with @biosphereexpeditions to give ONE lucky diver the chance to join a citizen science scuba expedition this October in the Maldives... completely free. Yep, you read that right.

This is NOT a luxury dive vacation. It’s a hands-on, fins-in-the-water, data-collecting mission using Reef Check methodology. Plus, you’ll be expanding your conservation community by joining a dedicated team of citizen scientists from around the world.

Here’s what you need to know:
📍 Location: Maldives
📆 Expedition Dates: October 11–17, 2025
📝 Deadline to apply: September 1, 2025
🤿 Minimum requirement: Open Water Diver
🎥 Submit a short video (1 min max) or a written pitch (100 words max)
📣 Tell us: Who are you? Why should we take YOU? What will you bring to the mission?

Full details and how to apply are at our 🔗

FYI Flights are not included.

California’s Marine Protected Area (MPA) network has officially been added to the IUCN Green List, making it the *first* nature network in the world to receive this prestigious global recognition.

Spanning 1,100 miles of coastline and protecting 16% of state waters, California’s 124 MPAs are now internationally recognized for their science-based design, ecological connectivity, and strong community partnerships. These underwater parks support vibrant marine life, coastal economies, and recreation and now serve as a global model for effective conservation.

This achievement is the result of years of collaboration between state agencies, scientists, community groups, and Tribal partners. It sets a powerful precedent for how we protect and manage ocean ecosystems in the face of climate change.

Go, go, California 💪
