Congrats team, and thank you, Shell NXplorers! Congrats team, and thank you, Shell NXplorers!

Shell NXplorers equips younger generations to get involved with solving real-world problems facing our society, and the @reefcheckbrunei team is right in the middle of it, working with coral restoration in their local reef system.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment for the environment. Every bit of press, research, education, and in-field work matters. Thank you to everyone putting in the effort 🙌

Climate crisis work can be daunting. Remembering o Climate crisis work can be daunting. Remembering our conservation history gives perspective on how far we've come and what we can do to keep momentum going.

For example, in 1999, California Legislature passed the Marine Life Protection Act to protect marine life by creating Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Following the establishment of the first Marine Protected Areas in California in 2006, Reef Check expanded operations to cover kelp forest reef surveying efforts.

The goal? Supply monitoring data for the effective management and conservation of the unique ecosystem. From there, projects like the urchin barren restoration efforts see success and habitats begin to recover.

Creating zoning laws is an important first step in any conservation effort, but robust monitoring must be implemented to have successful conservation projects.

Thanks to the consistent conservation efforts of local communities, the ecosystems we care about get a fighting chance.

Sonoma Coast surveys completed! Groundswell from t Sonoma Coast surveys completed!
Groundswell from the hurricane down south was a bit spicy but we worked together and timed our entries/exits to successfully finish 3 sites: Fort Ross, Ocean Cove, and Pebble Beach.
