Job Description
The Reef Check Foundation seeks a Program Manager to oversee daily operations and further develop the education and outreach components of the California Program.  Based at our global headquarters in Pacific Palisades, California, this position will focus on program and grant management, program development, fundraising through grants and sponsorship, partner support and development, public and media relations, government coordination and integration with the Reef Check tropical program.  The Program Manager will oversee locally-based staff and will work closely with remotely-based senior management to ensure a consistent application of the Reef Check California Program across the State.

The candidate must be knowledgeable about current marine conservation issues in California and have the ability to articulate complex scientific issues to a diverse audience.  The candidate must be organized, capable of maintaining a team atmosphere, and have demonstrated project management skills.  Key characteristics of a successful candidate will be a strong work ethic coupled with a high level of self-motivation and enthusiasm.  Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in grant writing/management, fundraising, marine conservation/science, and education/outreach.  Minimum education requirement of Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental education, marine policy or related fields (Master’s degree or above preferred).  Applicants with scuba diving certification and research diving experience will receive priority consideration, although these skills are not mandatory to successfully fill the position.

This is a full time position with 12 month contract with possibility of extension.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Generous benefits package includes medical, dental and 401(k) Plan with company match.
