Traveling Circus
This huge jelly was amazing to see. It's a shame that in general jellyfish are believe to be only dangerous, as this creature protects such a vast array of nursery life. An awesome encounter.

Honu Drift
Drift dive off Portlock Point on Oahu, HI. Just cruzing the reef and taking pointers from the local marine life.

Green Turtle Leap Frog
My boyfriend and I were snorkeling along Ka'anapali beach in Maui, when I spotted what I thought was a big rock in the middle of the sand. As we got closer we realized it was an enormous green turtle floating lazily with the current back and forth across the sand. Keeping our distance, we got on either side of the turtle and he made me laugh underwater posing for this picture.

Humpback whales play with freediver
Taken in February 2008 just offshore of Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands. Following a coral relocation dive to save some threatened corals by transplanting them to a Biorock reef, the volunteers were rewarded with two whales staying around the boat for an hour. They began to mimic Joe Muir's behaviour as he freedived with them, turning on their backs and lifting their pectoral fins. We actually got out the water whilst they played around the boat still. A respectful distance was kept at all times.

Jimmy and the Jacks
My late friend Jimmy surrounded by a school of jacks in Sipadan. It's easy to see what we stand to lose if we don't protect our reefs and ensure a future for the marine life it supports.

Touch at your own peril
The reefs of the Red Sea seem to have figured out on their own how to avoid too much contact with the throngs of divers that visit each year. Fire Coral is abundant in most areas and does a good job of reminding divers to be aware of their surroundings.

Coexistence
A young Indonesian boy plays in the shallow waters above the coral reef growing just off his village in North Sulawesi. As he grows, he will learn to protect and conserve the valuable natural resources that surround his village.

Riding by the guns
Diver and bicycle at the rear guns of the Russian destroyer renamed the MV Capt Tibbetts in Cayman Brac. The bicycle is a stunt for a retiring divemaster. Approx. 50 fsw.

Lookin On
A large Cuttlefish rests on the reef while a diver looks on. Kapali, Malaysia.

Papua New Guinea girl
People in PNG go around the reefs fishing and using hand-hewn dugouts to fish or sell goods to divers. Even kids -- like this young girl -- do ot.
