In honor of the International Year of the Reef in 2008, Reef Check is requesting you to sign our Declaration of Reef Rights shown below. We would like to present the Declaration along with a list of one million names to all coral reef country governments in January 2009. The purpose of this pledge is to highlight the high value of coral reefs and to encourage all people and governments to support coral reef conservation. After reading the pledge please fill out the form below and encourage your friends to sign up. You must include your full name, country and an email – but if you want to be kept informed about progress on the Declaration and coral reefs, please fill out the complete form. Thank you for supporting coral reefs.

2008-04-13 Anonymous AUSTRALIA I live on the east coast of qld, we have a house on keswick island and really appreciate the beautiful reefs surronding the whitsundays. I hope that these reefs will be there for many years to come
2008-04-12 Caryn Rakov Virginia UNITED STATES This is a cause close to my heart as well...fantastic declaration and I pary and hope countries start abiding by these stipulations. So many practices are abominable: overfishing, shark-finning by such countries as Taiwan for example, whaling by Japan as well as mass dolphin-slaughters, and the waste of fishing by-products such as netting and ropes that are strangling marine mammals and turtles at a staggering rate- it's all so sad!
2008-04-11 Michael Ray Illinois UNITED STATES I strongly support the preservation of our coral reefs
