In honor of the International Year of the Reef in 2008, Reef Check is requesting you to sign our Declaration of Reef Rights shown below. We would like to present the Declaration along with a list of one million names to all coral reef country governments in January 2009. The purpose of this pledge is to highlight the high value of coral reefs and to encourage all people and governments to support coral reef conservation. After reading the pledge please fill out the form below and encourage your friends to sign up. You must include your full name, country and an email – but if you want to be kept informed about progress on the Declaration and coral reefs, please fill out the complete form. Thank you for supporting coral reefs.

2008-12-12 Adam Brudnick Massachusetts UNITED STATES It's more than a little depressing how little is likely going to be done to combat climate change. If corals are anywhere nearly as sensitive to single digit shifts of water temperature or pH as I've read they are, it's going to be a long, long time before reefs are healthy again. It's very depressing, and I wish there were a magic bullet to stop the damage that's being done. There isn't. I suppose this is the next best thing.
2008-12-10 Sharon Drabsch AUSTRALIA Climate change is the biblical-scale plague that will be humanity's worst nightmare. Stupid part is it is our fault and preventable. Worst part is we are driving 1000's of species and (floral, faunal and human) communities to the wall, including entire coral reefs and islands, in the process of our pathetic greed. You cannot save coral reefs without halting climate change.
