Educational Marine Biological Adventures with Reef Check or EMBARC is Reef Check Foundation’s new on-board youth marine science education program. Each 3-hour trip, gives underserved students in LA County the chance to become marine biologists for the day and the ability to observe some of the diverse marine life found in California. The curriculum for the EMBARC program was designed and developed using Next Generation Science Standards and STEM Standards and is specifically geared towards middle school and high school students.

Through this program, we hope to open the students’ eyes to the wonders of the ocean world and raise awareness about the value of ocean resources, the threats effecting ocean health and possible solutions to these problems. Our ultimate goal is to create a new generation of young ocean ambassadors who will be willing to spread their newfound knowledge throughout their school and surrounding communities.
