Award Honoreee


Greg MacGillivray, President and co-founder of MacGillivray
Freeman Films, is being honored for his dedication to and passion
for the ocean and environmental concerns. MacGillivray has
dedicated his company to producing at least 1o IMAX Theatre
films themed to ocean and fresh water conservation.
With a filmmaking career that spans more than 4o years, Greg is
well known for his early surf classic Five Summer Stories as well as for
two Academy Award-nominated IMAX Theatre ocean classics,
The Living Sea and Dolphins. He is the producer/director of Everest,
the most successful IMAX Theatre film in history and invited
Reef Check to help with Coral Reef Adventure.
MacGillivray has been awarded the Bradford Washburn Award, the
highest honor bestowed by the Museum of Science, Boston, for his
contribution to science education. Greg now joins an illustrious group
of previous Reef Check award recipients that includes Jean-Michel
Cousteau, Dr. Sylvia Earle, and Daryl Hannah.
