Reef Check's 5th annual Reef Rescue gala will honor the esteemed Dr. Sylvia Earle (internationally renowned marine biologist and current National Geographic “Explorer-in-Residence”) with the coveted “Poseidon Award” for her lifetime achievements in marine conservation. Sharing the honoree spotlight is award-winning actress Daryl Hannah, who will receive the "Reef Rescuer Award” for her dedicated support and advocacy of reef conservation.
Reef Rescue 2007 will also feature an all-new performance of “Reef Inhabitants”, a stunning extravaganza of dance, music and multi-media art to raise awareness about the crisis affecting our oceans and coral reefs. The live show features performances by the Celine Dion dancers, musical score and video by Marc Langis, Paolo A. Santos and Claude Lemay, and choreography by Caroline Sicard, Elijah Brown and Mark Swanhart. The show premiered in January at a sneak-peak performance at Gale Anne Hurd’s Vertical Wine Bistro to rave reviews.
Dinner will be catered by Executive Chef Kurt Ehrlich from Celebrity Gourmet Catering. There will also be silent and live auctions featuring a number of unique items, including resort stays and ocean-related items.
A reef will be dedicated to Eddy Medora in perpetuity to recognize his contributions to Reef Check Foundation. A special tribute will feature a performance by two-time Oscar nominated songwriter Carol Connors.
