Reef Check California's goals are to:

- Establish a statewide monitoring network using trained volunteer divers to conduct scientific surveys

- Develop an informed and educated constituency supporting science-based management

- Provide data to help resource managers make informed management decisions

- Develop a self-financing monitoring and management program

- Involve California divers in solving the tropical coral reef crisis through the Reef Check EcoAction and EcoExpeditions programs
