The Team Leader is responsible for safety training and will need to assess the abilities of their team so that appropriate activity assignments can be made. The best person to serve as Team Leader is a certified and experienced scuba instructor or divemaster. In small teams, the Team Leader may be the same as the Team Scientist, but ideally these are two different people so that they can focus on their respective tasks.
